Bharatiya Janata Party

Bharatiya Janata Party is today the most prominent member of the family of organizations known as the "Sangh Parivar". And RSS has always been called "common", "reactionary" and what does not by its critics. Sangh swayamsevaks course always shaken off that criticism like so much water off a goose. They have never had any doubt that the organization is strongly linked to national unity, national integrity, their national identity and national strength through individual character and national character. And today this organization is ready for a leap.Although the long time critics say that now BJP is "unstoppable." What is the history of this national epic?

History is philosophy nations. And the Sangh Parivar has a very clear and candid conception of Indian history. Here was a great civilization whose glory spread from Sri Lanka to Java and Japan and from Tibet and Mangolia to China and Siberia. Although it weathered the storms of Huns and Shaka and Greeks it wilted before the Islamic storms of the Turks. However, a 1000-year resistance saw this country bloody, but unbowed. Its civilization survived through the heroic efforts of the Vijayanagar Empire and Shivaji, Rana Pratap and Guru Govind Singh and countless heroes and martyrs.
In more recent times this torch was picked up by Swami Dayanand and Swami Vivekananda. And in this century, the good work being carried out by Sri Aurobindo, Lokmanya Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi and others. RSS, founded by Dr Hedgewar in 1925 and consolidated by Shri Guruji after 1940, is heir to this heroic, historic heritage. It has nothing against Muslim Indians - as distinguished from Muslim invaders. Its position on this issue has always been: "Justice for all and appeasement of none". But it has no doubt that we were and are a Hindu nation, the change of faith can not mean change of nationality.
RSS is totally agree with Gandhiji formulations that "There is in Hinduism room enough for Jesus, as there is for Mohammed, Moses and Zoroster" and that "most Muslims in India convert to faith from Hinduism through force of circumstance. They still Hindus are in many important ways, and in a free, prosperous, progressive India, they would find the most natural thing in the world to return to their old beliefs and lifestyles. "
Because of the British policy of "divide and conquer 'and politicians' penchant for compromise and temporize the country affected by the trauma of partition. But the Sangh Parivar is no doubt that before long the units, the varieties and strengths of our ancient civilization will prevail. RSS has continued the task of nation building since its inception. It made it through the tumultuous period in the 1930s and 40s. But it was brutally shaken by Gandhiji assassination and the government's political exploitation of that national tragedy.
RSS did for millions of people who do not approve of Gandhiji Muslim appeasement policy - starting with the support of the Khilafat movement - but it had the greatest respect for the Mahatma. Actually visited Gandhiji RSS winter camp in Wardha in December 1934 - and talked to Delhi RSS workers in Bhangi colony, in September 1947. He was deeply appreciated the "noble sentiments" and "astonishing discipline" of RSS. He had never spoken a word of criticism of the RSS. But after his killing, 17000 RSS workers - including Shri Guruji - were charged with "conspiracy to murder" of Mahatma Gandhi and RSS workers offered Satyagraha. But all this time, not an MLA or MP raised the issue in an election period. For the RSS, was the truth. And this truth, which is formulated by Gokhale, was that "What cuts deep in politics deep cuts all around" and that unless the RSS grew teeth and political wings, it will always be at the mercy of unscrupulous politicians. This was the context in which Shri Guruji blessed the birth of Bhartiya Jana Sangh under the leadership of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee in 1951. And in the first election in bjs emerging as one of the four recognized parties. The party has never looked back since.
JP's Response:
In the election after by-elections Jana Sangh showed his class. It joined hands with Jaya Prakash Narayan on the issue of combating corruption and autocracy. The bjs was at the forefront of people's movement in Bihar and Gujarat. To the professional critics of Jana Sangh JP's response was categorical: "If Jana Sangh is communal then I also common areas." When the opposition won the election after by-election, the cry ran through the country: "Sinhasan Khali karo, Janata ki aati hai". A frightened Mrs. Gandhi declared martial law, arrested thousands and forbade RSS. But it has survived this Agni-pariksha, thanks again to the Sangh Parivar, which contributed nearly 80% of Emergency-time prisoners, both detenus and Satyagrahis.
Mrs. Gandhi was amazed enough to admit in Chandigarh, meeting in Congress in 1975 that "even in places where RSS was an unknown organization has established a solid foothold." The Economist in London (Dec.4 1970) described the underground movement Sangh Parivar as "the only non-left-revolutionary force in the world." And even Marxist parliamentary party leader Shri AK Gopalan was moved to say about the Sangh Parivar, "There are some lofty idea which is capable of inspiring such acts of courage and perseverance of the victims."
As a result of this successful resistance Mrs. Gandhi's Congress Party was trounced in 1977 elections and a Janata party government consisting of bjs, BLD, Cong (O), the Social Democrats and was a member of the CFD. Here Shri Vajpayee as Foreign Minister and Shri. LK Advani as information and broadcasting minister made remember the name. But within thirty months this government went into pieces, thanks to the vaulting ambition of individual leaders. The Janata pathetic attempts failed.
In the elections that followed the fall Charan Singh government, countless crores of foreign money coming into play. The Statesman said, Feb.11, 1980, Rupee, which normally sold at a discount in the world's black markets, now began to sell at a premium. In contrast to the official rate of Rs 7.91 to one U.S. dollar on 4 January the unofficial rate of Rs 7.20. "Those who keep track of the money markets attributed this sudden rise in the black market value of the Indian currency to big orders from unknown buyers, believed to include a number of foreign governments eager to channel funds to the shrine of choice ideological allies and friends in India ". After the election, in the very first week of February, 1980, the Indian currency fell even lower than before to Rs 8 a U.S. dollar to be precise.
While the splintered Janata Party was defeated in January 1980, their suicidal "dual membership" campaign continued. The bjs component found this situation impossible, went out and reorganized itself as the Bharatiya Janata Party. A bright new day arrived in the checkered history in India.
The very first meeting of the BJP in December 1980 in Bombay, which is headed by Shri Vajpayee, was a brilliant success. Solving this session the Grand Old Man of India, Shri MC Chagla, said: "I am not a member of the party, and I can not treat you as a delegate. But I can assure you that when I speak to you I do not feel like an outsider. I really feel that I am one of you. BJP is a national party. I admire your discipline, your honesty and your commitment. This huge gathering is Bombay response to Indira. This is the only party to replace Indira. "
It was during Indira Gandhi comes second, that the country experienced trauma in Meenakshipuram and massacre of Nellie.
But her worst disservice to the country was prop up stock of Bhindranwale - until then an obscure granthi - to intimidate and divide the Akali Dal. Even today the country has not recovered to play with fire, the latest victim of the same being Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh. No less dangerous was her aiding and abeting, arming and funding the LTTE which was out to break a friendly neighboring state like Sri Lanka. And when her political sons died in unfortunate and mysterious air disasters, she quickly established, even if her airline pilot son to succeed her and try to steer the ship of state. BJP, while subjecting all these sins of omission and commission, continued to consolidate its organization and fine-tune its policies. It won the election after the corporation elections in the cities. The general opinion was that Mrs. Gandhi would not be able to win the next election due early in 1985. And President Zail Singh was heard saying that in that case he would not call her to form a government. It was at this time that she was shot dead by enraged Sikhs for having violated the sanctity of the Golden Temple in Amritsar. What followed was a titanic tragedy, which killed thousands of Sikhs and their property worth some Rs 10,000 crores. The whole carnage was Okayed of the state apparatus, with President Zail Singh himself ringing up Delhi BJP leaders to please save the lives of their Sikh brethern. Whole class drama was staged under Mr. Rajiv as PM and Mr. Rao as Home Minister. No wonder no one was punished for this genocide of innocent Sikhs.
