Disney World vacation

Today, the temperature in Orlando has a high of 98 degrees. With the humidity it will feel like 103 degrees. Let's just say it ... it is HOT! As Florida Residents, we almost get used to this heat in a Disney World vacation. Here are some of our tips to help you enjoy your holiday and got to the summer heat.

Wake up early - I know it's your holiday and you will probably want to sleep in. But a Disney World vacation is not the sort of holiday to sleep in. Plan to get up early and arrive at Disney Theme Parks at least 15 minutes before the gates open . It is cooler in the morning and you will be surprised how much of the Disney Parks you can get through before the crowds hit.

Do not wait Lines - Waiting lines, making the heat seem even hotter still! Keep your waiting by arriving early, using the FASTPASS system, and using the extra Magic Hours. Already during the popular summer months, you can visit the Disney Theme Park without having to wait on long lines.

Take an afternoon on the purchase of your hotel - One of the favorite local tips is to take a break from 12-2 PM Disney theme parks. Head back to your Disney or Orlando Resort Hotel and enjoy a nap or take a dip in the pool. It will refresh you and get you ready to go back to the park for evening activities.

Plan on Rain - It's raining almost every afternoon in Orlando! Plan for it by bringing ponchos or umbrellas. When it rains, do not leave the parks. When the rain let up, you can enjoy a little bit cooler weather and less crowds.

Wear Good Clothes - Plan on wearing a hat, Teva or tennis shoes and light clothing. We love Columbia clothing or exercise clothes with dry weave. It helps keep you cooler and drier. Many of the Theme Parks have water rides that will help keep you cool in the parks. But you want to wear clothing that dries quickly. Wearing thick clothing light jeans or sweat shorts and you will be uncomfortable while you slowly dry. You want to wear cool clothes and clothes that can dry quickly.

Do Eating & Drinking Breaks - During your days at Disney theme parks, take a short stop at restaurants to grab a quick drink and a snack or just to plan your next attraction. Little 15 minutes stop in restaurants will refresh your group to the next adventure.

Buying a Battery Operated Fan - The other day I was so those cute little battery powered fans at Walgreen’s. They are $ 3-5, if you buy them at home, before your trip. Disney sells these same type of fans, but at a much higher price. These are perfect entertainment for children and will help keep you cool waiting for a show or in a line. Buy a fan for all!

Do not forget the small - the strollers can be really hot for the kids. The plan to buy battery-powered fans to buckle onto strollers. You may even want to pack a small screen to put over the stroller to block out the sun. While packing light wash cloth to wet all day to keep them cooler.

Key - do not forget the sun block! We see so many people who get red in the first days of their holiday. Spend the day outside in the heat with a sunburn makes for a very miserable holiday. Wear hats, cool clothing and wear that sun block.
