The simplest definition of wine is that it is a beverage made from fermented grape juice. The process of fermentation generates alcohol as yeast breaks down sugar found naturally in grapes. The grapes are grown throughout the world, but first and foremost requires a temperate climate, not too hot or too cold. Wine has been known since the beginning of civilization, and it is a good bet that it will be around for a long time to come.
