Simple Method for Cooking Sauce

One of the hardest things for a home cook to make a flavorful sauces. A great sauce will cover some of the worst mistakes of cooking, improving most of the best cooking successes and make your home cooking looks like a genius.

Cook a sauce does add flavor, texture and appearance to your home cooking dishes. A sauce or gravy is made from three simple ingredients: liquid, thickeners and flavorings. If you need ideas for cooking simple cooking sauces at home, you need only think of these three things.

Liquid for sauce

If you make a chicken, then you probably want something like adding chicken stock. If you make a tropical dish, you add a juice or soy sauce, an Asian dish. Add the liquid that makes sense for the protein that you've cooked and once you're accustomed to sauces, are open to experimenting with new and different flavor combinations. Then you will be able to thicken your liquid adhering to some great food for your kitchen.

Binder for the sauce

A sauce should be thick enough to stick to food and not on the wind like a puddle at the bottom of the plate. The easiest way to thicken a liquid with a cornstarch slurry. This same method that most of our grandmothers used to make gravy from pan drippings from the Christmas turkey. When cornstarch dissolved in cold liquid, then add it to a hot liquid (your sauce), it will thicken and thicken the sauce.

While slurry is the easiest way to successfully cook sauce, roux is the most used and most flavorful of the fat as necessary to separate starch molecules. If you ever notice lumps in your gravy, it's because groups of starch molecules bound together, and only on the outside of the group. Butter, oil or solid fat in a roux help "line up" the starch molecules for the introduction of hot fluid and their ability to individually absorb liquid and swell, this thickening of the sauce.

Flavors for your sauce

The liquid you use for your sauce you can make enough of a flavor profile that you do not need to add additional flavors. However, if there is not enough flavor, add some! You could add garlic, onions, ginger and a variety of ingredients while cooking your sauce to help liven up your home cooking.

No matter what the liquid, thickener and flavor profile you choose, you'll find that cooking sauce is a skill that you will enjoy and will more easily cook without recipes ideas lead. Before you know it, everyone will be begging you to take them to your house for some great cuisine.
