September 11, 2009, Coral Springs , FL - The Art of Living with Marilu Henner and National Psoriasis Foundation has signed a strategic partnership to expand the training of psoriasis, one of the most common autoimmune diseases in the United States
As leaders in the educational television genre, The Art of Living is working with the National Psoriasis Foundation, a nonprofit patient advocacy organization committed to finding a cure for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis, to give viewers across the country with expert-driven information about the disease.
"This new strategic partnership with the National Psoriasis Foundation will raise awareness of psoriasis, a disease that affects so many Americans," said Jim Nicholas, Vice President of Production The Art of Living. "Together we will provide viewers with information regarding the non-contagious, chronic, painful and debilitating genetic diseases for which there is currently no cure."
Leading dermatologist, Dr. Mark Lebwohl, chairman of the National Psoriasis Foundation Medical Board and Professor and Chairman of Dermatology at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, will address topics such as types and causes of psoriasis, how the disease affects children and adults, treatments, improve quality of life for those affected, and the latest in psoriasis research.
"Psoriasis is a serious autoimmune disease that affects up to 7.5 million Americans, but much of it is still unknown," said Randy Beranek, president and CEO of the National Psoriasis Foundation.
