Women and Eating Disorders

It is often said that when a person is under some form of stress release is usually by eating. In this there are two options: to eat too much and eat too little. In both cases the results would probably be detrimental to your health. Compounding the problem is that most people are not aware that they have eating disorders, until their health is suffering too much.

In women, eating disorders are a very real problem. This is not only because of hormonal changes in her body during menstruation, but also factors that are normally considered to be social. Indeed, even peer pressure can cause a woman to change her eating habits.

The causes of eating disorders Women

1) The most common cause of eating disorders in women is hormonal changes. Hormonal changes induced by the menstrual cycle in women. Because of her menses, a woman who commonly experience mood swings and a number of other changes which constitute a large possibly turning to eating disorders.

2) After birth, a woman may feel differently than the time before she gave birth. Because of this, a woman believes that her body has changed and this requires a degree of acceptance, something that is sometimes difficult to take.

3) Because of social and peer pressure. Some places there is a very strong pull on women for physical beauty. For example, beauty is often determined by a sexy look, a slim figure, and an overall attractive physical characteristics. In this case, a woman believes that in order to maintain their attractiveness, she must either bulk up or cut back on food consumption.

The effects of eating disorders Women

Eating disorders in women bring different effects, all of which are harmful to your health. To better understand the effects of eating disorders, it is better to distinguish the effects of eating disorders is based on the symptoms of disease.

1.Anorexia. This disorder occurs when a woman becomes too conscious of her appearance, especially in maintaining a slim figure. As a result, a woman tends to eat less and less, until it reaches a point where a woman can refuse to eat at all. Because of the reduction in the amount of food a woman eats, this results in the body being deprived of essential nutrients, causing health problems.

2.Bulimia Nervosa. Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder characterized by a woman trying to hoard food. This results in a woman eats too much, causing her body to grow. Moreover, in some cases of bulimia, a woman can not eat the food she piles, thus resulting in waste.

When a woman becomes larger because of eating too much, there is a risk that she may experience heart problems due to accumulation of cholesterol in the body.

Eating disorders in women is not just a personal problem. It is more a social concern that social factors may also lead to eating disorders. As such, societies must also learn to handle the problem, to complement the individual efforts.
