Description: One of the wonderful palace in Madurai, which is the only ancient castle .. The palace is situated 2 km south east of Meenakshi Temple. The castle was built in 1636 by Thirumalai Nayakar. A classic example of the Indo-Saracenic style, the piece resistance of this Mahal is its dome, carved outsoars without the support of beams or rafters.
