PHOONK2 and Paathshaala, which release today, were not screened for critics yesterday. There were many tweets on the unprecedented decision, by critics .
But Ram Gopal Varma, director of Phoonk 2, said, “Well, since this is a free country, everyone has a right to their own conspiracy theories. We took a policy decision never to show any of our films to anybody before the release.” Milind Ukey, director of Paathshaala, told us, “It’s a distributor’s decision, and not that of the producer or the director. I make a film and hand it over. Perhaps they wanted to protect their business, and took this decision.”
