Kids Teeth Brushing Tips

It is important to educate your young the importance of tooth brushing from a young age. Babies can start brushing as soon as the first tooth out.

This must be done by a caregiver until they are able to brush thorough brushing on their own especially for bedtime brush. This will also include other dental products. The bedtime brushing is the most important brush of days that we have to clean the teeth completely and prevent plague build up during sleep.

You may still want your child to 'practice' brush in the morning. This can help the child to use the same strength that you do for her as for bedtime brush.

Training your child about Oral Health - Essential Practice

1st Reduce / avoid sweetened foods as chocolate, candy, sweet drinks and foods.

2nd Brush at least twice a day with a soft bristles brush. Normally children (or even adult) tend to miss more difficult to reach edges. But will they be more critical areas to be aware of.

3rd Use dental products like dental floss or inter-dental brush from the age of 4 onwards.

4th Start with dilute amounts or mouth gargle when the child is ready. The child must also be able to gargle and spit because you do not want him / her accidentally swallow any mouth gargle - even in small amounts.

5th Make a dental appointment for your child every six months for a professional cleaning.

The way tips:

If your child accidentally falls a tooth in an accident, here's what to do:

1st Quickly recover the tooth, but DO NOT rinse it with water.

2nd Keep it in milk and bring the child to the nearest dentist for reattachment.

3rd Place cotton on the gums to stop bleeding.
