Decline in internet Explorer market share

In the war of Browsers Opera and Firefox is gaining at the expense of Microsoft Internet Explorer. According to Reuters report based on the reporting from statistics tracked by Statcounter, Internet Explorer’s share in March dropped in France by 2.5 percentage points from February, in Britain by 1 percentage point and in Italy by 1.3 points.
The selection screen designed to promote free competition among browsers is starting to reveal its effects. After a month, new trends are emerging in different countries. Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Opera all enjoy a little change.
Actually, Microsoft benefits for nearly 20 years of monopoly, the consumers were not having choices. For once, consumers get to have the choice of one of their system software with the presence of several alternatives in the field of web browsers Microsoft Internet explorer started losing ground particularly in terms of innovation and safety.
In India too internet explorer is losing grounds and the other competing web browsers are getting popular. Metrics of the firm StatCounter reveals that IE, as it’s known, has lost almost 20% market share in India in the past two years and on the other hand Google’s Chrome and Mozilla’s Firefox make great strides.
Looking at figures between February 25 and March 26, we see that the whole of Europe, Firefox has passed IE and now shows 42.6% market share against 38.4 % of Microsoft’s browser.
The trend is more or less clear depending on the country. In France, broke Firefox to IE 7% and takes the leading position with 44%. In Italy, IE loses 9% in Great Britain 15%, although still the leading browser. In Germany, where Firefox already dominates with 60%, the differences are minimal, but IE loses feathers.
Switzerland is no exception. Internet Explorer continues to lead but loses 1% and now stands at 44%. Firefox has gained 2% and closer to the leader with 39%.
The Norwegian company claims that its downloads have doubled during the month of March. But as his fans are still few, it does climb only a small percent and stands at just over 5%.
Chrome 3rd place
winner of the other operation is that Chrome, at European level, rose 1.5% and exceeds 8%, thus ensuring his bronze medal on the podium. These figures are obviously still quite evolve over weeks and months, since the selection screen is not offered to all Europeans.
In accordance with the European Union, Microsoft had to do something to create more distance between Windows and Internet Explorer as well as give more room for competing web browsers. Now with the Browser Ballot screen up and running, tracking firms have already observed a decline in Internet Explorer’s market share.
Even though those are just small percentages off from Microsoft’s share, it’s resulted in doubling – and in some countries tripling – of downloads for the Opera browser. Mozilla, which holds second place in the browser popularity contest, said that it has seen strong growth of Firefox.
