10 Steps To A More Fulfilling Life After 40!

I get asked a lot what it means to live a self-described authentic life filled with happiness, joy, fulfillment and a sense of contributing. So with this article, I have decided to share what I do. Try these steps for yourself and you'll also see a burgeoning life that works better for you!

1st Surround yourself with people you love

Prior to 40, most people do what they can to network, build contacts and participate in conferences to learn even more people. Just take a look at Face book, Twitter, Linked-In and hundreds of other networking sites. Despite the logic in signing up for many of these I shall offer the opposite advice. After 40, it is better to be very selective and only surround yourself with a small group of people who both supports your goals and / or have the same interests. Most importantly, surround yourself with people that you really care about. This will help you feel more connected to what is most important.

2nd Do not settle for what you do not want

There is plenty of pressure to continue to do what you're good at. I do not think it is a very good idea if you no longer enjoy what you're doing. Now it's time to reshape and recreate a life that works better for you. This starts with focusing only on what you want. There is no reason why you can not live until 100 or more if you take care of yourself. Do what you want is the best way to spend your life time.

3rd Take big risks and make changes

If you want a dream come true, you must be ready to make big changes. It applies to relationships, finances, work, and your health. There is so much that you can control. I have rarely seen much progress toward goals without huge sacrifices

4th With more movement and get outside more

Motion changing emotions. Relocation of the human body from one place to another is important. Pick up any exercise to move your body and get you outside more. 30 minutes a day should do it. No excuses, and you will come back much more energy in your day and as a result you will live longer!

5th Have Downtime

There are many ways to have downtime. It may be a day of reflection, writing in a journal, doing yoga or walks and meditate. The point is to give yourself about 20 minutes a day for doing nothing but reflection. I take a daily nap for 20 minutes and during this time reflect and rest. It recharges the rest of my days

6th Reward yourself each day

I love New York Times and give me 30 minutes a day to catch up on today's news. It makes me happy. I do so after a major task or project is completed. What can you do to reward yourself every day? These are the things that make life fun. Do not short change yourself on this matter.

7th Decision which the work must occur through you

Think deeply about this. What gifts are still sleeping inside. Maybe it's your writing or music or the ability to solve problems, or perhaps help others with math problems. Find out now what it is and start doing it. No job description will ever define this for you. This must come from within.

8th Define the right to work for you

This will be the toughest job of all! What work could you do for life? What work is a natural alignment of your abilities and your interests? What work just makes you happy and have fun? Find it and do it now!

9th Do not seek approvals or opinions

After 40 is the wrong time of life to get approval from others. It's time to be a rebel with a cause. Decide, what is most important to you and take steps to make this a life priority.

10th Learn to let go

There are so many opportunities to look back on past mistakes, things you wished you would have done differently and the choices you have made. It is not useful. Rather than acting in the present. Take risks now, you must take, take decisions now you need to make, and make new choices that better suit you now and in the future. Let go of your past experiences that did not work, and realize that at the time you made the best decisions you can, and this was a part of learning and life!

And a bonus move, because after 40 it is important to make your own rules!

11th Read more

Become an expert at what you are really passionate about. This may take the form of degrees or certificates or just new learning experiences. At this stage of your life is no longer so important, what's on your resume vs. what new things you are learning and how to use them in your life.

After 40 it's time for greater reflection of who you are and what you want. You have paid the price for entry into practice. Now it is time to integrate what you've learned, apply it now matters most, and enjoy the trip through the best time of your life!
