Nifty Raises 4500 points at open

The BSE Sensex has staged a smart bounce back on Wednesday morning on the back of strong cues from the US and the Asian markets. The NSE Nifty is back above the 4,500 levels. While, the BSE Sensex has continues to stay above the 15,000 levels. Among the 30-components of Sensex, 22 stocks are in the positive terrain and only 8 were in the red. HDFC, Reliance Industries, ONGC, ICICI Bank and L&T are among the top gainers. On the other side, Bharti, Wipro, TCS and HUL are among the major laggards. At 10:08 am (IST), the BSE 30-share Sensex surged 147 points at 15,208 and the NSE Nifty was up 41 points at 4,510. US stocks closed higher on Tuesday with the Dow Jones Industrial Average ending at a six-month high after yet another volatile session. Better-than-expected corporate earnings and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke's testimony on Capitol Hill were the two big events of the day. The Dow ended up 68 points, or 0.8%, at 8,915.94, closing at its highest level since Jan. 6. Meanwhile, the broader S&P 500 index tacked on 3 points, or 0.4%, to 954.58, its highest close in 8 months.
