Because of the political problems in Thailand, both in Bangkok airport had been seized from November 25, demonstrators, a minimum number of flights from Bangkok were diverted to the KL International Airport (KLIA).
The Suvarnabhumi International Airport was besieged by anti-government demonstrators, causing its closure and leaving more than 100,000 passengers stranded. Dud Oman, Kilo’s general manager said the flight to Bangkok was diverted to KLIA on receiving the news that the airport was closed.
The number of diverted flights in the next few days became less frequent because the passengers heading to Bangkok was aware of the current situation. Some flights were diverted from Qatar Airways and KLM.
Moreover, officials in Air Asia also known as low-cost carrier terminal (LCCT) confirmed that all flights to Suvarnabhumi International Airport were canceled. Air Asia mounted rescue flights from Kuala Lumpur to Bangkok in support of their passengers. The third of these aircraft were sent on 30 November
The Pan Pacific Hotel at KLIA said that the hotel has seen an increase in occupancy, 25November 26 and due to requests from airlines to house stranded passengers.
Marriott Putrajaya public relations manager, said some passengers had checked in at the hotel.
