You see, dealing with female athletes is different from working with male players. As you proceed with your coaching career, I am confident that the differences between these types of athletes will be even more visible.
Just so you will not mess on your first day of coaching, here are my softball coaching tips for you if you are coaching women's softball players.
The Secret to Coaching Female Softball Players
If there is one thing that you need to learn early as a coach is that there are some things you can not change your players. Fighting these things will only disturb you and create enmity between you and your players. So instead of doing what you should learn to understand the situation and find a way around it.
That said, there is a great thing that you need to know that you can not change among the majority of female athletes. The point is that unlike male athletes, females place more emphasis on the relationships they are part of the team.
Because of this property, you will notice that women tend to be more talkative with their teammates. And unless you give them enough time chatting before the game or practice, their conversations could continue throughout the game or practice, and even after that.
So instead of telling them to stop talking, get them to come early so that they can have enough time to talk with each other and update each other before getting down to business. When you do this, you will notice that they will be more focused on what they do in the area.
As I always say the key difference between male and female athletes is that men need to play the game, to feel good.
On the other hand, women must feel good to play the game. So along with their warm ups, it would be a good idea to give your female players enough time to chat before you play.
Create more meaningful Team Activities
Here's another tip. Now that you know that women put a premium on the relationships they make with their teammates, you should also wear it to all the activities that your team does.
And I'm not just talking about team practices or games here. Also think of your team-building activities such as parties or whatnot - even something as simple as sharing a meal. Whatever you ask your team to do, always remember to add the element of building relationships there.
Still nervous about dealing with female softball players? Well I hope you finally get over that with the help of softball coaching tips, which I shared with you above.
The key here is to understand that women work differently with men. Unlike men, women value friendship and build relationships even with their teammates.
