Mini Cars

It was back in the late 1950s when the very first mini car first rolled off the assembly line in England. Fuel rationing had begun in England, and it was impetus to create this unique and at the time one of a kind vehicle that was soon to become a British icon.

Mini was produced from 1959 until as late as 2000, when production was halted by BMC (British Motor Cars) because of lagging sales. It seems that over the years car buyers have developed a taste for the less economically more racier design competing foreign models.

However, the company was subsequently sold to BMW in 2001, and production was again resumed under the new name for the BMW Mini. It was the latest spike in fuel prices, which sent the price of gasoline soaring up to as much as $ 5 per gallon in the U.S., which has brought a new generation of car buyers back to rediscover this crown jewel of a car.

What set the Mini different from other small cars like VW Beatles that had preceded it, was that the Mini, while the small and fuel economy was nevertheless much more spacious on the inside of the vehicle. This was achieved by placing the motor sideways and extend the wheelbase of the cars edge.

While the dimensions Mini measured a mere 10'X4'X4 'target for the three-man design team that created it was that a full 80% of the cars total space was delegated to the passengers and their luggage. They actually did achieve this goal, and thereby causes the Mini's unique square-is shape.

As design goes, the original Mini was quite basic with them, the Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S models. However, during the years new design adjustments and changes that let to the rather sad to see Mini morphing into a very sporty versions. However, it was Mini's three victories in Monte Carlo Rally in the 60s that really caught the worlds eye, in terms of its sporting potential.

Although the Mini has landed roles in several films over the years, it was the roles in the recent and wildly popular Austin Powers spy comedies, it is perhaps best known for. Although Austin Powers drove a Jaguar, Mini was visible in his many cameo appearances fill the streets in the background.

In recent years, sales of the Mini has again picked up with the help of a few new design changes and it is equipped with a safety airbag to do so in accordance with the British car standards. In addition, four new models have been presented to the public in recent years, and a small adjustment of the name from Mini to MINI.

Another factor in the resurgence of popularity are car buying public has become weary of so-called fuel-efficient cars that turn out to be empty cramped and lacks style. Mini but can and will always be counted to carry four passengers around in comfort and style while providing excellent fuel economy, and it also sells for a reasonable price.
