This recipe is for a simple bread dough, which has a nice buttery taste. It can be used also to make herbed cheese, bread and dinner rolls.

Ingredients:

1 package dry yeast
2.5 to 3 C flour (all purpose)
1 / 4 C water (hot)
1 teaspoon salt
1 / 2 C of milk warmed
2 toss sugar
1 / 4 C of butter-flavored Shortening (Crisco brand)
1 egg

How to Cook:

1. Combine water and yeast in a large bowl. Add in 1.5 c flour, milk, salt, sugar, shortening and eggs to this mixture. Beat use your electric mixer at low settings for about 3 minutes. Stir in the rest of your flour for a softer dough.

2. Get a board and sprinkle with enough flour. Put your dough on it and knead for about five minutes. Make sure that the dough becomes smooth and elastic enough. While kneading your dough, continue adding flour on your table from time to time, so it will make your kneading easier. Shape your dough into 1 large ball and put it in a greased glass bowl. Make your dough over and cover it with something clean towel. Let dough double its size (1 hour)..

3. Take your dough from bowl, punch it down then form into any shape you want. If you plan to prepare dinner rolls, then do not knead your dough.

If you just do your basic bread loaf: Shape your dough accordingly and place inside a greased bread pan measuring 9X5X3. Tire pan and let dough double its size. Bake in your oven at about 375 degrees. F, until it turns light brown (30-45 min). This gives a bread.

If you do herbed cheese bread: At the top of your basic ingredients for bread dough, add one to two teaspoons of dill weed or basil (dried) and 1.5 cup grated cheese (cheddar). Mix these ingredients in your dough, knead and shape into a circular shape.

Next, place the dough into a 1-qt. round, well-greased deep casserole dish. Then turn the dough over and make an X mark at the very center of your batter's top using your knife. Tires dough then let it rise just until it doubles its size. Preheat oven to 350 degrees and bake the dough for 40 to 45 min.

If you make dinner rolls: Cut the dough evenly into 20 pieces, then knead into small balls. Next, place the dough pieces inside a greased 13X9X2 bread pan and covered using a clean towel.

Once your dough is already doubling its size, bake in your preheated oven at about 400 degrees. F. Put Crisco on top of your towels before placing it in the oven. Keep rolls in the oven to keep them warm for about 7-10 minutes before serving
