Porpoise or CAVI is easy to keep some specific requirements. When you think of buying a new pet, it is a good thing to find out what kind of care and equipment needed. This article gives a brief overview of their basic needs, so you can decide whether it is the right pet for you.
A guinea pig kept alone will be an unhappy, insecure because animals in South America would cavil live in small family groups. It is advisable for you to buy a trio of female guinea pigs, or at least if you only buy one animal provides the company with a rabbit.
Cavil needs warm, dry housing, such as a small weatherproof Rabbit Hutch placed outside and protruding the moist soil. In very cold weather, Hutch will be moved into extra shelter such as a shed or outhouse, because these pets are not hardy enough for extreme weather.
A cavy kept in a cage, will not have a lot of physical space, but by nature they are surprisingly active animals. Give them a safe shelter around Hutch with interesting things to explore, such as a hollow log, rock, etc. and see how they drive and even pursue. A movable 'Ark ' placed on the grass will provide a training area for your pet if you can not give them a permanent safe housing.
Pasture is an important part of a guinea pig diet, and they should be equipped with a grazing area. Even if your pet has a permanent exercise running around their cage, they would also benefit from being put out to graze in a sheet for a portion of the day. Do not forget to use a sheet with a protected area, and includes thick hay, guinea pigs will go under hay covering if disturbed or it rains.
To summarize, before buying guinea pigs (s) you should be able to provide the companionship of 1 or 2 persons, all living together in a warm, dry Hutch. They want an exercise / play area outside the hutch and access to a pasture. They will have a sheet which is moved to a new area of grass daily, so you will have a reasonably sized area of grass to begin with. If you are unable to provide these basic requirements, so the guinea pigs as pets have much to commend it.
