Learn How To Keep Your Bread Fresh

Bread should always be kept fresh. Nobody wants to eat old and moldy bread. The usual things we do when we want to preserve the freshness of our bread will be to place them inside your refrigerator. While this is effective to a certain extent, there are actually alternative ways to uphold the quality of bread.

A lot of people use bread bins or boxes to store their bread. Bread crates are made of wood, metal or plastic. Wooden boxes are said to be better in preserving the freshness of your bread products, but there are also disadvantages of using them. Tree can trap the moisture from the surrounding air, which can cause condensation inside your box again accelerate the formation of mold in your wooden box.

Putting bread in your refrigerator or freezer, is a very popular method, but there are also disadvantages associated with it. It is true that refrigeration will slow the formation of mold on bread, but you must be careful not to let even a small amount of moisture from being trapped in your box. This can accelerate mold formation instead of delaying it.

Another concern to keep your bread freshness is when the bread starts to become obsolete.You really can not keep up with bread from going stale, no matter what storage method you use. Gluten proteins present in your body knit back after baking. This makes the composition of your body much harder.

Bread may be old, even refrigerated, as low temperatures, which can actually make the bread becomes obsolete faster. When the bread kept at low temperatures, starch fraction of wheat flour undergoes some changes, which involve retro gradation or crystallization. The good thing is that the crystallization of starch will come by putting bread over low heat, which softens it.

Another way of delaying the staling of bread using additives in it. Examples of such additives include methylcellulose or Glycerol. Use prop ionic acid or other types of antimicrobial additives could partly inhibit the molding process.

Here are some tips you can follow if you want to make your bread is fresh long:

1. Do not wrap freshly baked bread as soon as you get it out of your oven. You should let the bread cool first before you save it. Trapped heat inside your wrapper can produce condensation, which can make your bread soggy.

2. Wrap bread in foil then place it inside an airtight Ziploc / plastic reservoir bag before you store it inside your cabinet. When you're ready to eat it, thaw your bread at room temp. and heat it in the oven for ten minutes.
