
Puttaparthy is the original village in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh in which Baba took birth, and the township is Prasanthi Nilayam. The city's biggest attraction is the Baba's Prasanthi Nilayam Ashram, the presence of which has a huge fill up to the local economy in the form of lodges, restaurants and shops, are highly frequented by visitors to Prasanthi Nilayam. Prasanthi Nilayam literally means dwelling of the highest peace. Baba gives daily darshan to his thousands of followers in the ashram.
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba: Sai Baba was born November 23, 1926, in Puttaparthy and at the age of thirteen, fear that he was possessed by evil spirit, his parents took him to the village doctor who tormented his body.
