Volvo Charge, ReCharge and enjoy non-stop drives

Volvo Recharge Concept is an interesting innovation that ensures the long drives will never be the same as before. Volvo cars are specially designed a plug-in hybrid with an electric motor at each wheel and batteries recharged each day via an electrical outlet. This gives the driver about 100 miles on electricity alone. The car's four-cylinder internal combustion engine is also activated to recharge the batteries on the go.

Interesting news for the future

Another arresting news is that Volvo's future product portfolio to integrate with a certain proportion of electric cars. With the launch of the Volvo Recharge Concept, there has been an excellent range on battery alone while integrating its own combustion engine as back-up power on the go. A very interesting concept for the future!

The concept car was developed at the Volvo Monitoring and Concept Center (VMCC) in Camarillo, California. When running on electricity alone, operating costs will be about 80 percent lower compared with a gasoline-powered car of similar size. For distances longer than the range of batteries and internal combustion engine operation, fuel consumption will vary from 0 till 5.5 l/100 km, depending on fuel and how much internal combustion engine is run.

Some more stuff on Recharge Concept

Designed without mechanical power transmission from the internal combustion engine to the wheels, Volvo Recharge Concept is known as a series hybrid featuring a series of interactive technologies, which include:

• Lithium-ion polymer batteries, designed for a lifetime longer than the car itself

• Four electric motors, one at each wheel, provide individual four-wheel drive

• The energy generated during braking is redirected back to the battery

The combustion engine starts automatically when 70 percent of the battery is consumed. However, the driver can also manually activate the engine via a button on the dashboard.

You can observe a significant difference between the Volvo plug-in hybrid and today's hybrids. Today's hybrids use only the electric motor to assist combustion engine for short periods. Volvo solution instead allows for most car owners to drive a hundred percent on electricity, with the added assurance that there is an internal combustion engine for backup. Volvo C30 with plug-in hybrid technology retains its transmission and sporty characteristics. Acceleration 0-100 km / h in 9 seconds and top speed is nearly 160 km / h.

Volvo Recharge Concept in fact ensures non-stop driving. Keep driving!
