Critical Thinking and the Wizards

What Feeding your thoughts? Did you watch the news, read books or magazines that you think renew? If you need a critical thinker insatiable appetite for reading things, not to develop on the surface, but instead of wire lines connecting with other things you know.

Recently I read Jeffrey Gitomer instance's article about his experience throwing Baseball at Wizards game. The article says baseball for sale. Great article and I could have taken only at the level that was offered.

Instead, I tied to the article and share the process of critical thinking. Especially this quote from Doug Dacono, the Wizards manager "They think because they've done something once or twice, they can go to the next thing. It is wrong to think. There is no" quick "way in the big leagues. Great players should perform well and improve slow years, if they want to play in the big leagues. Most of these children have played baseball all their lives and still do not know enough to Major League ball. Add these personality characteristics " no patience and you have a team of potentially frustrated people. "

This quote got me thinking about two things: 1) the problem companies have in understanding why a high performance person who suddenly they promoted their new position and 2) companies constantly want 'instant' education for their managers, as You can take a two-day program and do it in two hours? They believe that since these people are leaders is "clear" enough to catch on quickly.

Let's first look at the problem, encouraging people only to discover that they fail. I think that companies continually leaders based on their performance to promote and then be blocked if the person fails the new position. They wonder why?

Well, for the simple reason that the skills and abilities that you excel in a job does not necessarily translate into the job than you. Like the guy who can play baseball all their lives but still do not understand the "mental" game Major League Baseball.

The second problem with the timing quote reply when he speaks about how there is no quick route to the big leagues. Instead, it is about performing well and slowly improving for years. The development of critical thinking is the same way. It is not a full-day course and suddenly your brains structured differently. Rather it is an established practice to stretch your brains in new ways, until he is able to rely less on knowledge and experience and instead be able to take complex information and to chew a whole new way. This requires the involvement and access to continuing education, to wire lines all together create a sustainable and scalable way of thinking for managers.

So an article, a quote, two great new bands. What ways have you stretched your thinking today? Not just read an article, but the picture of how it ties into a project, problem or situation you face to try. Remember, your mind needs exercise just like your body!
